African Safaris Hub Kilimanjaro
Kilimanjaro · Machame Route · Women’s Group
Take on the Roof of Africa alongside a small group of women climbers, guided by our experienced team — the camaraderie of shared miles, on Kilimanjaro’s most scenic route.
Overview
The Machame Route — the “Whiskey Route” — is Kilimanjaro’s most popular and scenic climb, winding through five climate zones from lush rainforest to arctic summit. This departure brings together a small group of women climbers on the same trail, at the same pace, sharing the highs and the hard moments together.
We run it over seven days rather than six, adding a crucial acclimatization day at Karanga Camp. That extra day follows the “climb high, sleep low” principle and gives your body the time it needs, meaningfully improving your odds of standing on Uhuru Peak.
Every climb is led by our senior local guides, supported by a well-cared-for crew, and carries emergency oxygen and daily health checks — so the whole group can focus on the mountain, not the logistics.

Trip highlights
Day by day
After your morning briefing and transfer to Machame Gate, the group begins climbing together through dense, lush rainforest alive with birdsong. A steady first day brings you all to Machame Camp for your first night under canvas.
The forest gives way to open moorland and giant heather. A shorter but steeper day, with the summit coming into view as the group crosses onto the Shira Plateau.
A key acclimatization day: the group climbs high to Lava Tower (4,630m) for lunch, then descends to sleep lower at Barranco Camp. “Climb high, sleep low” helps your bodies adjust together.
The day starts with the iconic Barranco Wall — a fun, non-technical scramble the group tackles together, with sweeping views as the reward. A short day to Karanga Camp for the extra acclimatization night.
A steady climb to Barafu, the summit base camp. The group arrives early, eats well, and rests together through the afternoon and evening — because tonight, you climb.
The group sets off around midnight for the long climb to Stella Point and on to Uhuru Peak — the Roof of Africa — for sunrise. After summit photos together, you descend all the way to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.
A final descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where the group receives summit certificates together. We then transfer you back to your hotel for a hot shower and a proper celebration.
