Luxury Marangu Route Climb

The classic “Coca-Cola Route” to the Roof of Africa, elevated: senior guiding, premium hotel nights, and enhanced service from gate to summit.

6 days / 5 nights Summit 5,895m Moderate from US$3,550 / person

Overview

Kilimanjaro's original route, done at a higher standard

The Marangu Route is Kilimanjaro's oldest and most established path to the summit — nicknamed the “Coca-Cola Route” for its long history and well-built infrastructure. It's also the only route on the mountain where you sleep in mountain huts rather than tents, and the only one where the descent retraces the ascent path.

Our Luxury version keeps that familiar, gentler route structure and adds what a discerning climber actually notices: a senior mountain guide leading your climb, an enhanced crew ratio, elevated in-hut dining prepared by our lead mountain chef, and premium hotel nights in Moshi before and after — with private vehicle transfers throughout.

We build in a full acclimatization day at Horombo Hut, run twice-daily health checks, and carry emergency oxygen as standard — so the extra comfort never comes at the cost of a safe, well-paced ascent.

Questions

Frequently asked

Do I need climbing experience?

No. Marangu is a non-technical trek on a well-established path — there's no rope work or climbing skill required. The main challenge is the altitude, which our 6-day itinerary and acclimatization day are designed to manage.

Why is Marangu called the "Coca-Cola Route"?

It's Kilimanjaro's oldest and most developed route, historically known for its hut accommodation and reasonably easy access to drinks and snacks along the way. It's also the only route where the descent follows the same path as the ascent.

What makes this the Luxury version of the climb?

A senior guide dedicated to your climb, an enhanced crew ratio, elevated mountain dining prepared by our lead chef, premium hotel nights in Moshi, and private vehicle transfers throughout. The route and hut accommodation on the mountain itself stay the same as the standard Marangu climb.

What are the huts like?

Simple, dormitory-style bunk rooms shared with other climbers on the mountain, not private ensuite lodging — huts are the same across all Marangu departures. Send us your dates and we'll confirm current hut arrangements for your group.

Is the price per person?
