Women’s Group Shira Route Climb

A dedicated women’s group ascent across Kilimanjaro’s dramatic Shira Plateau, with careful acclimatization, supportive trekking and a sunrise summit at Uhuru Peak.

7 days / 6 nights Summit 5,895m Moderate to challenging from US$1,698 / person

Overview

A women’s group adventure across Kilimanjaro’s western approach

The Shira Route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west and begins high on the Shira Plateau. For a women’s group, it offers a memorable combination of wide volcanic landscapes, shared challenges and a strong sense of achievement as the route progresses toward Uhuru Peak.

The 7-day itinerary crosses the Shira Plateau, continues through the Southern Circuit and uses Lava Tower as a key acclimatization point before descending to Barranco. From there, the group tackles the Barranco Wall and continues through Karanga and Barafu for the summit attempt.

This is a non-technical trek, but the high starting elevation makes acclimatization especially important. A slow pace, good hydration, rest and close attention to altitude symptoms are essential throughout the climb.

Yes. This package is designed for a women’s group, creating a shared environment for women who want to take on Kilimanjaro together while following the same professional mountain safety standards.

Is the Shira Route suitable for first-time Kilimanjaro climbers?

It can be, provided you are physically prepared and understand that the route begins at high altitude. The group should be comfortable hiking for several hours and following a slow, disciplined pace.

The route combines the open scenery of the Shira Plateau with the Southern Circuit, Lava Tower, Barranco Wall and the classic summit approach. The shared route creates plenty of opportunities for group support and encouragement.
