African Safaris Hub Kilimanjaro
Kilimanjaro · Lemosho Route · 8 Days
The unhurried version of Lemosho, with a full extra acclimatization night at Barranco — built for climbers who want the best possible odds of reaching the summit.
Overview
The 8-day Lemosho adds one extra night at Barranco Camp compared with our 7-day version, splitting the push toward Karanga into two calmer days. The extra 24 hours at altitude gives your body significantly more time to adjust, which is why this is widely considered one of the strongest acclimatization profiles on the entire mountain.
You still get the full Lemosho experience — the western rainforest, the Shira Plateau crossing, Lava Tower, and the Barranco Wall — just with more breathing room before the summit push.
Every climb is led by our senior local guides, supported by a well-cared-for crew, and carries emergency oxygen and daily health checks — so you can focus on the mountain, not the logistics.

Trip highlights
Day by day
After registration at Londorossi Gate, a short drive brings you to the trailhead. You climb gently through dense, untouched rainforest to Mti Mkubwa — “Big Tree Camp” — your first night under canvas.
The forest thins into moorland as you climb toward the edge of the Shira Plateau, with the summit visible for the first time as you reach camp.
A relatively gentle day crossing the vast, otherworldly Shira Plateau — one of the most scenic walks on the entire mountain, with Kibo’s summit dominating the skyline ahead.
A key acclimatization day: you climb high to Lava Tower (4,630m) for lunch, then descend to sleep lower at Barranco Camp, where you’ll spend two nights.
A full extra day at Barranco — the signature advantage of this itinerary. Short acclimatization walks and rest give your body significantly more time to adjust before the final push.
The day starts with the iconic Barranco Wall — a fun, non-technical scramble that rewards you with sweeping views. A shorter day to Karanga Camp for a well-earned rest.
A steady climb to Barafu, the summit base camp. You arrive early, eat well, and rest through the afternoon and evening — because tonight, you climb.
You set off around midnight for Stella Point and on to Uhuru Peak for sunrise. After your summit photos, you descend all the way through Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, where you receive your certificate and transfer to your hotel.
