African Safaris Hub Kilimanjaro
Kilimanjaro · Machame Route · Couples
Take on the Roof of Africa together, on a private climb designed for two — the same iconic Machame Route, without joining a larger group.
Overview
The Couples’ Machame Climb follows the same iconic route as our classic 7-day trip — five climate zones, the Shira Plateau, the Barranco Wall, and a sunrise summit on the Roof of Africa — but as a private departure for just you and your partner, with your own dedicated guide and crew.
No joining a group of strangers, no pace to match but your own. You climb together, rest together, and reach Uhuru Peak together — with a little extra care taken over the small touches that make the trip feel like yours: a private dining tent, a celebratory toast at your final camp, and a guide happy to slow down for photos when the light is right.
The same acclimatization-first pacing, senior local guides, and safety standards apply as on every climb we run — this is simply Kilimanjaro, shared.

Trip highlights
Day by day
After your private briefing and transfer to Machame Gate, you climb together through lush rainforest to Machame Camp, where your own tent and crew await.
The forest opens into moorland as you cross onto the Shira Plateau, with the summit coming into view. A shorter day at your own pace, with time to take it in together.
A key acclimatization day: climb high to Lava Tower (4,630m) for lunch, then descend to sleep lower at Barranco. Dramatic scenery the whole way, best shared.
The day starts with the iconic Barranco Wall — a fun, non-technical scramble with huge views. A short day to Karanga, the extra acclimatization night that strengthens your summit odds.
A steady climb to Barafu, the summit base camp. You arrive early, rest together through the afternoon, and prepare for the night ahead.
You set off around midnight, climbing side by side to Stella Point and on to Uhuru Peak for sunrise — the Roof of Africa, reached together. That evening at Mweka Camp, we raise a private toast to your summit.
A final descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate for your summit certificates, then a transfer to your hotel for a hot shower and a proper celebration.
The details
Good to know
Unlike group-joining climbs, your pace, rest stops, and schedule are set around you and your partner, not a wider group.
No technical skills needed, but good general fitness helps — both of you should train with hikes and cardio beforehand.
Twice-daily health checks, emergency oxygen, and the extra acclimatization day are built in as standard.
The dry seasons — January to March and June to October — offer the clearest, most reliable conditions.
Secure your private dates and let us handle the rest.
Questions

No. Machame is a non-technical trek — there’s no rope work or climbing skill required. The main challenge is the altitude, which our 7-day itinerary is specifically designed to manage.
Because it’s a private climb, your guide can adjust the pace to suit you both, rather than matching a wider group’s schedule.
Yes. The exact figure depends on your dates — send us an enquiry and we’ll give you an honest, all-inclusive quote for two.
Absolutely. Many couples pair the climb with a Serengeti safari or a Zanzibar beach stay, all arranged by our team as one seamless trip.
