African Safaris Hub Kilimanjaro

Why climb with us

The mountain is the same for everyone. Your operator is what decides how it goes.

Kilimanjaro doesn’t care how much you paid or which company you booked. But your guides, your itinerary, and the way your climb is run make the difference between a summit at sunrise and a headache-filled retreat at 4am.

Choosing who takes you up is the single most important decision of your climb. Here is exactly how we run ours — and why so many climbers reach the top with us.

Higher summit odds

A high success rate isn’t luck. It’s built into the itinerary.

The most common reason climbers fail on Kilimanjaro isn’t fitness or willpower — it’s altitude, and rushing to save money. Shorter, cheaper climbs give your body too little time to adjust, and the mountain quietly wins.

We build every climb around acclimatization first. We favour longer routes, add the extra days that matter, and pace each ascent on the proven “walk high, sleep low” principle so your body is ready when summit night comes.

95%

of climbers on our 8-day routes reach Uhuru Peak — well above the industry average on shorter climbs.

Senior local guides

Guides who summit this mountain week after week

Your lead guide has stood on the summit hundreds of times. That kind of experience isn’t a line on a brochure — it’s what reads a shift in the weather, adjusts your pace before you feel it, and spots the earliest signs of altitude sickness long before they become dangerous.

Our guides were born in the villages at the foot of Kilimanjaro. They know every camp, every trail, and every mood of the mountain, and they lead in fluent English so nothing is lost between you and the person keeping you safe.

Safety as a system

Six things that keep you safe on every climb

The same measures that protect you at altitude are the ones that get you to the top. We never treat them as optional.

Twice-daily health checks

Pulse-oximeter readings morning and evening to track your oxygen levels and catch altitude issues early.

Emergency oxygen

Bottled oxygen carried on every single climb, ready the moment it’s ever needed.

First-aid trained guides

Comprehensive first-aid kits and guides trained to use them, on hand at all times.

Low guide-to-climber ratios

Enough guides that no one is ever left behind — especially on the long, cold summit night.

Clear evacuation plan

A fast, rehearsed descent protocol if altitude ever means going down is the right call.

Constant weather watch

Guides monitor conditions throughout the climb and adjust the plan to keep you safe.

Genuinely all-inclusive

One honest price, with nothing waiting to surprise you at the gate

A low headline price is the oldest trick on Kilimanjaro. Park fees appear later. Tips become an expectation you weren’t warned about. Gear rental, transfers, and rescue insurance quietly get added on.

We do it the honest way. Your quote covers everything you need to reach the summit — so the figure you agree to is the figure you pay, and you can plan your trip without a single nasty surprise.

What every climb includes

  • All national park & camping fees
  • Professional guides, cooks & porters
  • All meals & drinking water on the mountain
  • Quality tents & camping equipment
  • Airport transfers & pre-climb briefing
  • Emergency oxygen, first aid & rescue fees

Ethical climbing

The crew who carry your climb are treated as they should be

Every climb rests on the shoulders of porters, cooks, and guides doing hard work in a hard place. Too many operators underpay them, overload them, and send them up the mountain in inadequate gear to keep prices low.

We follow the standards of the [Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP)]: fair wages, proper food and shelter, sensible load limits, and warm clothing for the cold at altitude.

Well-treated crews are stronger, safer, and more reliable — which means your climb is in better hands, too. Your adventure is never built on someone else’s hardship.

One team, start to finish

From the airport to the summit — and the safari after

You land in Tanzania and everything is already handled. Transfers, permits, hotels, briefings, the climb itself, and any safari or Zanzibar getaway you add on are all run by one team who know exactly what the others are doing.

There’s no juggling separate agents, no gaps between hand-offs, and no confusion about who’s responsible for what. You focus on the mountain. We take care of the rest of Tanzania.

Local & personal

A local company that treats your climb as personal

We’re not a booking desk in another country reselling someone else’s climb. We’re a Tanzanian team on the ground, and every climber we take up the mountain is someone we’ll meet in person.

That means real conversations before you commit, honest advice about the route and pace that suit you, and the flexibility to shape a climb around your dates, your group, and your goals — whether you’re a solo first-timer or a family taking on the summit together.

The bottom line

A climb built to get you to the top — safely, honestly, and in good company

Longer, safer itineraries. Expert local guides. Genuinely all-inclusive pricing. Crews who are treated well. One team handling everything. That’s what it takes to reach the Roof of Africa, and that’s exactly how we climb.
