Rugged high-altitude terrain on Mount Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro · Lemosho Route · Western Breach

7-Day Lemosho Western Breach Climb

A more direct, more adventurous line to the summit — climbing the steep Western Breach headwall straight to the crater rim, with the option to camp inside the crater itself.

7 days / 6 nights Summit 5,895m Challenging from US$2,690 / person

Overview

The more direct, more adventurous way to the top

Instead of the standard route from Barafu Camp, the Western Breach climbs a steep scree-and-rock headwall directly to the crater rim near Uhuru Peak. It’s a shorter, more dramatic summit push — and the only route on Kilimanjaro that offers the option of camping inside the crater itself, at the foot of the summit glaciers, before your final push at dawn.

This route suits climbers with some trekking experience who want a more engaging line and a genuinely different Kilimanjaro story than the standard approach.

Every climb is led by our senior local guides experienced on this specific route, supported by a well-cared-for crew, and carries emergency oxygen and daily health checks.
